Ah, summer time.  As kids, summer wasn't just a season--our lives revolved around the beginning and end of the school year  and those precious summer months.  As we grow up, our lives shift to work and relationships and time seems to fly past without breaks.  Luann as a character, and a comic strip, has certainly progressed towards a more mature and complex life.  It is really fascinating to write for the characters as they work their way through emotions, challenges, and milestones.  But lately I have been enjoying the yesteryear jokes of Luann, age 13, circa 1985...
